A texting conversation that leads to misconnection
This sculpture explores the conversation of sexual attraction in a contemporary texting-centric world, which often replaces physicality with the distanced interplay of text messages.
To create these texts in this artwork, I have pulled from actual texting exchanges between guys and girls who have never met but engaged in the ageless ritual of flirtation and seduction.
Through these texts, perhaps we can decode, in some way, the human condition of today's relationship interplay. My work is meant to be both humorous and insightful as it adds perspective to the nuanced interpersonal interactions of the smart phone generation.
Mixed media. Life-size fiberglass male and female mannequins, covered with clothes, plaster and paint. Looped videos of texts playing on imbedded LED screens.
